Nostalgic Folk Art was born in 2004. I came up with Nostalgic Folk Art name for my paper mache figures because I love the older things that remind me of my childhood and of innocent times. They are figures of folks both childish and impish and I love vintage folk art so putting nostalgic with folk art was/is a perfect and fitting name for my lil figures and business. I feel so blessed and thankful to God for being able to make these little pieces and hope they make you smile.

Thank you for taking the time to visit!

And when your done visiting here, I'd love for you to check out my work on my etsy shop, www.etsy.com/shop/NostalgicFolkArt

The Best to you always!

Small Christmas Miracles

With so many more important things going on in the world, and many people needing big miracles in their lives, this may not seem very important. And in the big scheme of things it isnt, BUT to me it made my heart sing. If you have been reading my blog you know we have introduced a spitfire of a puppy named Archie to our home. I had visions that it would be love at first sight and the two boys would just play and snuggle together and all would be well in wellsville. How very wrong I was. Entering into this with a cold and company coming for Christmas was probably not the smartest thing to do but it was done and here we go. Henry was/is devestated by this and has been so depressed and sullen. It has broken my heart as he is such a loved lil Boston, anyway the puppy deserves to have the attention he needs and love too. So I am torn between the two forgetting they are dogs I suppose. I just want them both to feel loved. Well Henry can hardley be in the same room and the lil one doesnt like him near me (yes I discipline him for that)anyway on Christmas Eve a tiny miracle in our home happened!!!!!! Joyous occassion to which I grabbed my camera and here is a picture of them snuggling (on opposite sides but still!) on our housecoats on the couch IN THE SAME ROOM!!!!!!!!!! "Falllllll on your kneesssssss" ok thats a bit much but it made us all so happy and small tiny tiny miracles are just as wonderful if you see them.

A very Happy New Year to Ya'll and wishing ya'll lots of wonderful things this year!!!!

Merry Christmas Ya'll

Merry Christmas to everyone! Christmas time is in our home all about our family and our small traditions. Decorating for the season is one of them and how it really brings us closer and the memories we get from this and where we were when we got our favorite holiday pieces. The other day my beautiful crow arrived what a wonderful piece of folk art from Starla Myers of Briar Rabbit Primitives. Check out her website to see more of her lovely pieces. She is a dear person and extremely talented. A great way to spend any Christmas cash! I took a picture of my huge piece (which came with embellishements) holding a vintage Christmas ornie. It is in our dining room window so everyone will enjoy it as we sit down to eat.
Whether your home is full of cherished holiday items or has one or two, it is all about being grateful for our blessings big and small.

Speaking of big and small blessings:

An update on the puppy and Henry. Well its been a week and 2 days and they can be in the same room together which is nice but Henry still feels put off by this lil creature. Archie is too cute to resist. Henry will not eat until the lil one is done but maybe Henry was not born to be an alpha dog and I will have to accept this.
Henry tries to have him chase him but the lil one is too afraid after a bit. BUT there are attempts and I cannot wait for 2 very silly funny faced boys are chasing each other around the house and yard. Oh Archie slept THANK YOU LORD til 6 30 this morn.

A Little Bit Of Light!

We havent had our new puppy long and well since sun. Henry hasnt really looked at me face to face. He is very upset that a new lil imp is in the house. He would leave the room everytime Archie would enter and refused to come to Dan or myself or play or even eat. He was ticked!!!! Henry is so loved and now isnt thrilled about sharing that but......... he actually got near him today and I have photos! Look at Henry's body language. Ears are back head to side when I called at him to take a pic. He wasnt having it. But he was curious and his curiosity is forcing him to "visit" with Archie. Archie cant wait to play with him.
Look whos coming Henry!

Geeze is he still around

Handsome Henry

Circling round each other

Contact is almost made!

a dog more bowlegged than Henry

Tomorrow is another day and these two should end up best of friends. fingers crossed.

Moveable Nostalgic Folk Art Sale

Well kinda cleaning out my studio and deciding on putting something on ebay, but not ready to put this on there yet. This is an old piece dated 6/10/07 of a paper mache mixed media figure of 3 lil ones trick or treating on some dangerous grounds and not heading the signs the witch has posted. The witch moves around by the stick I have nailed on. The totem pole of pumpkins is super charming as each one has a unique expression, some have old fake teeth in them as well (not real teeth just some fake ones from an old dental sales kit). It is pretty heavy. I had it on my old website but it was so so hard to show multiple pics on my old website I took it down and didnt add it on my new site. I think I might of put this on the TDIPT Mercantile when I first joined. Anyway its a cutie but it is time for it to find a good home and not just sit in my studio. It's approx 15"
by 13" I took pics but didnt think to dust this oldie but goodie so you can see the dust. Please contact me if your interested in purchasing. $350.00 which will include priority insured shipping.

Welcome Archie

We have a new baby Boston Terrier in our home today and his name is Archie. He is 2lbs and 6 oz. of pure sweetness!
I'm soooooooooooooo tired already as our beloved Henry is not pleased with this new additon at all. And so I have been trying to show Henry he is still our baby and also make Archie feel safe and loved in his new home. I know eventually Henry will accept him completely. Right now he is pouting in his kennel. Poor tender hearted Henry.
Here is a picture we took of Henry as soon as we came in the door and brought Archie home. Poor Henry ran and "hid" under the bar stools. I have never seen him look like this, almost as if to say, How long is that staying. Look at his ears they are back so far they are almost touching.

Archie is sleeping on my lap as he has had a heck of a day so far. Playing ,eating ,pooping and trying to keep away from Henry. Even when sleeping he has one bulgy eye open and watching Henry. Henry is a sweetheart and knows he is a puppy but it is clear he is not quite as enchanted as Dan and I are. For so long he was the only pebble on the beach. You know its true that you can lead a horse to water but you cant make it drink.

Tee came by to see lil Archie and man did she fall for his funny face and bowed legs.

There is nothing like a baby animal. Just precious and sweet and soft.

Its Begining To Look Alot Like Christmas!

I bet a million blogs have opened up with that line! giggle oh well, this past weekend spent some time decorating for Christmas and listening to holiday music. It will be a toned down gift giving but as you can see I have enough stuff and have no desire for more. Well unless its a vintage Boston Terrier item or antique ornie.
Here are just a few pics that somewhat came out clear of some of our home Christmas decour. Unfortunately I'm too lazy to retake more.

Here is one of my older Nostalgic Folk Art santa's amoungst a collection of new and antique bottle brush trees

On our windowsill some vintage plastic santa and snowmen things with a Nostalgic Folk Art angel who didnt sell on ebay with some fun stuff.

Just an area in our tv room. Kinda overwhelming but I'm not quite the hoarder yet.

This year is going to be extra special as we are welcoming a new lil brother for Henry. His name is Archie and he will be home with us on the 13th. I have begun nesting for him and have gotten him a crate, puppy food, toys, bowl and a tiny winter coat. Eat your heart out Peanut!!!! Will you be his Godmother? giggle
Pictures will be forthcoming of course!
This is an extremely busy time for us so it will be awhile before I will update my blog so I am wishing everyone the best holiday possible!

Here are my Christmas Offerrings this month on the To Dwell In Primitive Thymes Mercantile. Check out the new primitive offerrings listed on this site. There are so many talented artisans there!

Been a busy week or two!

Ok this is a really really bad picture of me but Tee looks good and so I'll take a bullet for her giggle. Geeze my neck looks sooo... well I know what I'll look like as a granny in a few years. Oh maybe that look is from lugging that heavy necklace around! Thats my excuse! ANYWAY
Last weekend was the Deland Art Festival and Tee and I stopped by to check it out and visit with a friend of hers. Here are some pics of the art show and the Florida Museum of Women Artists.
Lil gal playing the fiddle and she was really good!

Katherine Peterson who runs the musuem. She's so much fun and adorable! Wish my pics would of come out better.

Oh my they sell Nostalgic Folk Art there giggle

This is Tony Savoie and he makes the best mixed media paintings around and by far my favorite artist there!

Oh if I only had the $3,000 + to buy this gorgeous picture of a Boston Terrier! I screamed when I saw it! He really does amazing work!

Well Tee and I didn't take other photos as its a tricky thing at an art show most(myself and Tee included) don't like it. I did ask his permission of course and he was really cool about it all. check out his work at www.tonysavoie.com!

Deland is such a quaint lil town and a great spot for antiquing, eating and drinking!

Friday night was so much fun and wish I could of stayed for all the fun. Nancy, Artitsts at The Metro gallery owner and Teresa, owner of Metropolitan Frame and Gallery were having a special meet and greet. There was also one of their artist who was painting Christmas ornaments for the lucky customers. I apologize for not knowing his name, but Nancy will get back to me with the names of those I regrettibley leave out.

He really did a beautiful job on those ornaments and they looked so great on the little tree in the window.

I had to get there early as Dan and I had another engagement that evening so here are pics of Teresa and Nancy setting up the event.

Teresa spiking the yummy punch making it even more yummy!

My First Written Review/Kinda like your first dollar, I treasure this dearly

"Carol Roll is a relative new-comer, creating folk art for four years, now. Her paper mache figures reflect significant talent. At first glance, her angels, people, mermaids, and animals may appear cute and dear. At closer look, they are sophisticated, with detailed, expressive faces, each unique. Roll's work is anything but mass produced. It's the real deal. "
