Nostalgic Folk Art was born in 2004. I came up with Nostalgic Folk Art name for my paper mache figures because I love the older things that remind me of my childhood and of innocent times. They are figures of folks both childish and impish and I love vintage folk art so putting nostalgic with folk art was/is a perfect and fitting name for my lil figures and business. I feel so blessed and thankful to God for being able to make these little pieces and hope they make you smile.

Nostalgic Folk Art April Offerrring on The Merc

This figure is called The Lucky Girl because she has a dress made of "fine" old lace/fabric. Anyway she is made to look like an old primitive styled doll.

Head over to The Mercantile (click on the button/banner on the right) and see all the first of the month updates and maybe you'll find something you cant live without.

A Little Smile and Full Heart

Been very busy making figures for an upcoming show and trying to keep busy and off missing my son and the general horrors in the news/newspaper. Anyway, Kipp is doing fine, busy with training and moving into an apartment and all those things entail.
Henry goes into his room and lays there and sometimes hides in there, its so sweet and cute.

So here are two lil sweethearts that make me smile and fill my heart,

Henry

Until next year,

This is torture, to see Kipp off and away, but thats the way life is. You raise your children and then they grow up and move on. I'm writing this with a fresh broken heart but i know in a few days it'll be back to normal at our house, just like last year when he spent a very quick year in Ireland. Japan (he will be teaching english)is so different than Ireland so i'm a bit more nervous about it all until i hear from him and he his all settled. These pics are from this am at the Orlando Airport.

btw while in line Billy Corrigan from (most known) Smashing Pumpkins was in line too. AWSOME! terrible pic but didnt want to freak him out, anyway he is with the gal with the orange hat at the check in. We were hoping he'd be on Kipp's flight.

Kipp is off again

and this time so very far away and the bittersweet feelings are back. Somehow when he went to Ireland, yes it broke my heart but i just knew it was for a short time and he had a friend there, this time he's on his own and in a place where the culture and language are so different. His contract is for one year and then who knows where or when his next adventure begins. He leaves for Japan in less than a week. We had a lil neighborhood good by party/bbq for Kipp as he grew up with these good folks and he really cares about them and i do believe they care about him. anyway here are some pics of that gathering. Setting up the bar Kipp Kipp and Charlie the elegant MaryJo and me Sandy Rick MaryJo and Marion Vince Johanna and Dennis Harrison joins in and so does Henry, clearly i need to eat more food and put down the glass Archie is in the mix cause neither on of those Bostons can take the other one getting an ounce more attention of nibblet of food. Stevie, Harrison's lil brother but i guess now i should say younger as non of these boys are little any longer. And no he didnt wear that over, he found it in our garage. giggle Kipp we will all miss you jogging around the neighborhood, changing the church signs (allegedly) with Harry, and partying with the "triad" wish more pics would of turned out with Iris, Pat and George and Judy, although we do have George in one of the videos giggle. So its the last week to get groceries for the 3 of us and its gonna kill me after he's gone to see the left over stuff that only Kipp eats,to go into his room, to find the sock that belongs to him, the house will be cleaner but who really cares and it wont be that much cleaner anyway, the quiet is gonna be dreadful and i'm gonna miss my dear son who is darling, kind, funny, silly, helpful, loving, and decent amoung so many other things and now a grown man leaving for good and far away.

New Nostalgic Folk Art for March on TDIPT

Just a posting of my offerrings for this month. In honor of TDIPT's 5th birthday i thought i'd make a tea party set and along with it a couple of lil imps that go with the theme. The two lil girls are sold seperately and the tea time set consits of the lil gal and her two "stuffed" toys.
The neat thing is i added vintage lettering around the entire blocks so no matter which placement of the 3 figures you can still spell T E A. :)

My First Written Review/Kinda like your first dollar, I treasure this dearly

"Carol Roll is a relative new-comer, creating folk art for four years, now. Her paper mache figures reflect significant talent. At first glance, her angels, people, mermaids, and animals may appear cute and dear. At closer look, they are sophisticated, with detailed, expressive faces, each unique. Roll's work is anything but mass produced. It's the real deal. "
