Nostalgic Folk Art was born in 2004. I came up with Nostalgic Folk Art name for my paper mache figures because I love the older things that remind me of my childhood and of innocent times. They are figures of folks both childish and impish and I love vintage folk art so putting nostalgic with folk art was/is a perfect and fitting name for my lil figures and business. I feel so blessed and thankful to God for being able to make these little pieces and hope they make you smile.

Pure JOY!

Well the first picture is of Gracie and Guiness and they belong to Tee Thompson, my dear friend who rounded them up and loaded them into a Shasta trailer and hit the road, all the way up to Maine and then back home in Fall. HOW joyful! and i copied the squirrel off someones blog or facebook page, i think it was Pammie of GoldiLo Woodworks she's always sharing these types of funny things. the squirrel is so danged cute, now they drive me and my Bostons nuts, BUT this is too adorable! Have a great weekend with bits of joy here and there!

Tomorrow he leaves

and i am so sad. Kipp heads off to Poland. I just keep trying to stay bzy but there is so much to do and i am paralyzed with sadness and nervousness. So the wheels are spinning and not accomplishing much. Today i go to the grocery store with Kipp for last minute things he needs. Small prayers i dont start crying at the Publix, tho i know i will have tear rimed eyes the next time i go and shop for just Dan and myself. I thought that when he was grown up i'd be able to easily let go but its not the case. Our family would head over to PA. every other year for Christmas to visit Dan's parents and his mom would cry when we left, year after year. Now i understand. Kipp will always be my dear son and I am always going to be proud of him and happy he is living life the way he wants as not many people take the leap of faith. Thank you so very much the inventor of Skype. I am going back to my pity party

A Great Get A Way

Kipp will be leaving in a lil bit and i had to go to Ga (Main Street Gallery) and drop off some work for Folk Fest, so we just made this a long weekend get a way. we stayed at this little cottage and it was pure heaven. I am so ready to just live off the grid and this lil place just did it for me. we antiqued and ate out and just were quiet enjoy the pictures

loved the outdoor feel of the main room

i really wanted to raid this garden, there were tons of green tomatoes that needed frying
Henry and Archie loved exploring and Henry tried to play with a rabbit

so we head out to Clayton Ga and Main Street Gallery to drop off the goods

Tired and ready for some dinner food.
 Highlands NC and the view

farmers market with the line of cars all the way on the highway we had to check it out

they had honey bees there so sweet

back and resting from the long and fun day Henry loved just sitting on Kipp's lap
there were baby birds in this gourd and they would poke their open beaks out one at a time for food and the mom and dad would swoop down and feed them bugs. it was my favorite event
 flea market time!
this man sold so many of these pumpkins his wife made! that made me so happy!
looky here, saw one of these in bad shape on American Pickers, his in mint in bag! I bought an Indian head from him
 more antiquing

Archie just chilling for a minute
Our last night we went to The Dillard House and see the menu options, well you  get all that! you dont choose
 for starters
 the view
some food for the 3 of us tastey southern salty gravey goodness

there are cottages you can rent there as well

so now i'm overly tired and for the first time i'm not happy to come home i mean that lil cottage was paradise!!!! i gotta get used to my normal again.

My First Written Review/Kinda like your first dollar, I treasure this dearly

"Carol Roll is a relative new-comer, creating folk art for four years, now. Her paper mache figures reflect significant talent. At first glance, her angels, people, mermaids, and animals may appear cute and dear. At closer look, they are sophisticated, with detailed, expressive faces, each unique. Roll's work is anything but mass produced. It's the real deal. "
