Nostalgic Folk Art was born in 2004. I came up with Nostalgic Folk Art name for my paper mache figures because I love the older things that remind me of my childhood and of innocent times. They are figures of folks both childish and impish and I love vintage folk art so putting nostalgic with folk art was/is a perfect and fitting name for my lil figures and business. I feel so blessed and thankful to God for being able to make these little pieces and hope they make you smile.

Thank you for taking the time to visit!

And when your done visiting here, I'd love for you to check out my work on my etsy shop, www.etsy.com/shop/NostalgicFolkArt

Went to the Flea Market with a dear friend

Andrea moved to Ca so far from this Fl gal, but no matter how far apart we are, we are still two peas in a pod.

We loved some of the same items at the Flea Market and have the same taste in decorating, but i have to give her props as she is way more creative in decorating than i am.

anyway she sent me some pics from the day as i forgot my camera (still have a flip top phone so no pics from me and not a tech person at all)

pulling me from my studio to head out, i'm so bzy trying to make pieces for Christmas

her find of the day, this very large empty paged scrap book, i know she'll make something wonderful with it. have no idea whose feet those are   yikes
i found some earrings and 2 religious charms, and a candy tin oh and a wire shell thing for the garden but no pics you know why

Here we are at Cracker Barrel, she was craving the chicken friend steak with gravey and i was craving the hash brown casserole, we southern gals like it fried, with gravy, bacon or cheese! tired from the hot flea market but good food was about to be devoured. my first selfie from her phone

she had to take a pic of the boys!

Found these old pics

the second time i got in the Mt. Dora art show in 2007 or 2008, i remember that tree full of my birds in cages and a bunch of  kitchen witches. I did such a terrible job of setting up back then.

this is an  older piece, 2006 and still one of my favorites

my first Kitchen Witch 2005
2005 or 2006 at Folk Fest, Mikes Art Truck Gallery showing my work
nice to take a nostalgic look at my creative past.

Feeling a bit cooler

that is if the  high 70's and low 80s are cool, but it feels like fall already!  Fall and Spring are my favorite seasons and  i've been making holiday figures  already, mostly Christmas, but have just listed this fall inspired primitive kitchen witch to my etsy shop

Waiting for Fall in Florida

been so busy redoing the garden area so we can have fresh lettuce, kale, tomatoes, turnips, cukes ,beets, spinach, lemons, tangelos, avacados and eggplant.

not in the mood to cook so very thankful Kipp is feeling much better and back in the kitchen making great veggie dishes like this leek and spinach tart

anyway here are some pics of the progress  we are making in the garden, you can see Archie very nosy and Dan very dirty and just a bit more to do.

Looking for a spout for our water barrel

there's Archie, wanting to play ball and see whats going on with Dan

Dan adding the weed killer and then the pebbles
We had some older seed packets and instead of tossing them we just emptied them around a small tree and you can see some green beans and kale have spouted! we say we've watered the vegetable soup.

fingers crossed these babies will make it!

14 years ago today

i was watching the morning news and saw it all unfold, it was surreal and numbing, i still cannot bear to look at pictures of the destruction

God bless those who lost so much that day and those who were/are so brave and honorable

Thank You and God Bless The USA

Still in a holiday mood

Just finished these three snowmen and adding them to etsy in a minute,
they are The Show Off, The Rescuer, The Beginer.   A large set of snowmen that have a lot of movement and personality

My First Written Review/Kinda like your first dollar, I treasure this dearly

"Carol Roll is a relative new-comer, creating folk art for four years, now. Her paper mache figures reflect significant talent. At first glance, her angels, people, mermaids, and animals may appear cute and dear. At closer look, they are sophisticated, with detailed, expressive faces, each unique. Roll's work is anything but mass produced. It's the real deal. "
