Nostalgic Folk Art was born in 2004. I came up with Nostalgic Folk Art name for my paper mache figures because I love the older things that remind me of my childhood and of innocent times. They are figures of folks both childish and impish and I love vintage folk art so putting nostalgic with folk art was/is a perfect and fitting name for my lil figures and business. I feel so blessed and thankful to God for being able to make these little pieces and hope they make you smile.

Thank you for taking the time to visit!

And when your done visiting here, I'd love for you to check out my work on my etsy shop, www.etsy.com/shop/NostalgicFolkArt

Adding some Christmas pieces to my Nostalgic Folk Art etsy shop

its early and i made some of these even earlier, but i'm in a Christmas making mood, and i always make what i'm in the mood for. Lately its been hard for me to get in the swing of it all but i'm feeling like working again.   so anyway here are some pieces for Christmas, but we may bring them to Folk Fest in Aug. so not sure how long they'll be on etsy.

been making these joy snow and noel snowmen for a couple of years now and will keep on until, well until they are around too much.  ;)

a Christmas snow sprite, jetting across the sky spreading holiday cheer!

and finally three impish snowmen who are in a bit of a brawl, well instead of snowballs, they are throwing ornies at each other, all in fun i can assure you.

Thunderstorms today but the sun is still shining

Opened my door this am and took a pic of the first thing i see,

makes me happy, feeling happiness here and there more often, still so worried for my friend who lost her husband recently, but i know she will have days with happiness more and more in them.

I looked up and saw the sun so nice poking through across the street

as i turn the corner i see a constant that i love, 3 tall palms together, i always say there's Dan, Kipp and me.

sun completely up and out and home to my flowers, frogs,

and Archie and Henry who will be waiting to play ball and get scratched behind their ears

Still reeling and so much hurt but these words are helping me

easier said than done but this helps me deal with a sick loved one, and reflect on my friend of 24 yrs who lost her husband in a very sad and heartbursting way.  So please don't sweat the small stuff in life, there are hurts and there are HURTS. some things are fixable.

My friend is so strong and this is so unfair and though my heart is with her, i know its just not enough right now, i know she wants him back, we all do. Very very much.
She is a young widow, her husband, Rick, was so magnetic, truly one of a kind, he took such care of her, loved her more than himself. That was one of the few things i knew for sure in my life.

i'm a rambler and terrified i'll say something stupid (probably have)and don't know what to do to make it better.

We miss him so much and hurt for her so much.

Two Good, I Can'ts

I can't believe i got a photo of pure love, a sweet little angel with a name bigger than her little body,

Chalupa,

and i cant believe i had a conversation/ramble with Trudy, who loves her always.

its thundering here and its going to storm, perfect
my home is full of heartache right now and so through the horrid there is this sweetness and kindness like a little light through a crack in the door.

To those who have lost a loved one, i hope you get more and more moments of sweetness.

very sad, lost and heartbroken

a dear friend of Dan and mine, died last night. quite a stunner. he was incredibly smart, generous, strong, funny, brave and a big kid.   he just turned 49 and leaves behind his much loved wife, who like him is so very smart, kind, the best friend anyone could ever have, and so much more, she now has to pull all her courage and strength within her to get her through this incredibly sad and huge loss.   wish i could fix it all for her.

stunned

what to do

so my boys know when i'm happy or blue and these pics show how they feel when i'm too sad to play ball or even talk to them.

Too Cute!

they take over the couch but who wants to disturb these angels?!

well honestly, one is more of an angel and    the other well.....     guess who the trouble maker is, you can see it in his eyes giggle. dont worry Archie no one is going to take your ball.

and how did they get the pillow to do that?

My First Written Review/Kinda like your first dollar, I treasure this dearly

"Carol Roll is a relative new-comer, creating folk art for four years, now. Her paper mache figures reflect significant talent. At first glance, her angels, people, mermaids, and animals may appear cute and dear. At closer look, they are sophisticated, with detailed, expressive faces, each unique. Roll's work is anything but mass produced. It's the real deal. "
