Nostalgic Folk Art was born in 2004. I came up with Nostalgic Folk Art name for my paper mache figures because I love the older things that remind me of my childhood and of innocent times. They are figures of folks both childish and impish and I love vintage folk art so putting nostalgic with folk art was/is a perfect and fitting name for my lil figures and business. I feel so blessed and thankful to God for being able to make these little pieces and hope they make you smile.

Thank you for taking the time to visit!

And when your done visiting here, I'd love for you to check out my work on my etsy shop, www.etsy.com/shop/NostalgicFolkArt

The postman left this on my doorstep this am and my happy adreneline tipped the scales. I have been dying to see this adorable prim doll, made from Peanut of Countryfolk Keepsakes, check her shop out on Etsy if you want one. They are more than reasonably priced btw. I feel a little bit quilty about that but hey she priced them.

Before i show her cuteness, let me share my loved other prim pieces,

this gal is just precious and she was made by Karen (Cookie) De Greve of Curds n Whey

this piece is just as stunning as a vintage Steiff, its a Brady Bear, made by Karen Brady

and i dont know what happend here with the picture, i cant flip it ugh, but this angel is another favorite of mine, by Patty Kelly Trevino of Dogpatch Primitives, maybe its just too flipping gorgeous you'll get hysterical blindness if you look to long!

With all the small stuff

going on in my day to day, i realized how ridiculous i am for complaining about things that can be fixed, things that really arent worth the stress i let them give me. i havent had a moment to think about anything outside of my small world.
taking breath and realizing that life can change at any moment.  How terrifying to see and hear this coming at you and what do you do with a small amount of warning?!?

the people in Oklahoma are so resiliant. i watched them looking battered and shell shock saying  things like, we will rebuild,  we are alive, this is our home and we'll stay, God granted me two wishes.

I guess i'm partial to the Red Cross, they have amazing volunteers, but there are other organizations that are there to help, so we should rally around them.

Pray for those whose hearts are broken from loss of their loved ones and the horrible disruption in their lives.

this great pic was taken from my friend Cookie DeGreve's facebook page. She is amazing.

I'm finally on Facebook!

After 9 years i finally bit the bullet and signed on! I sent a few contact requests, which was hard to do but maybe i'll get some people to like me. Its hard to ask for people to like you isnt it? cringe.
so a couple of things, First Thank you Karen Brady bradybearsstudio.blogspot.com for spotlighting a couple of artists on your blog including me
for having a work in the Prims Magazine Summer 2013 issue

and secondly and very importantly the wind beneath my wings, Jan of Digital Antiques, for making the most Nostalgic Folk Art banner! she totally got the essence of who i am and what i do, she did all the colors and design just from a little hinitng. She  is amazing!

Such a cool ad campaign!

My dear friend Cookie sent me this great ad campaign.

Colgate has created a very ingenious advertising campaign to promote their dental floss.

All right ......... now that you've had time to quietly observe the images .......

* in the first photograph, you might have noticed that the lady has one finger too many on her left hand

* in the second photograph, a phantom arm is floating behind

* and in the third photograph, the man has only one ear

The campaign attained its purpose.

It proved that food debris on your teeth draws more attention than any physical defect does.

How well did you do ???

Pick Up Prims Summer Magazine 2013

If you get this magazine your gonna see some really wonderful works by some wonderful artists. One of my favorite primitive artists is Karen Brady of Brady Bears
http//www.BradyBearsStudio.blogspot.com

http://tdipt-bradybears.blogspot.com/

I feel we are like minded gals with similar tastes, tho i wish my studio was as neat as hers, and Karen is a great gal too. To get to know her better, visit her blog and to see more of her delightful work check out her website.

here is the cover of the issue we both have work shown in (although i have only one pic giggle)

Look at these bears!
I really love my Brady Bear and he looks great no matter where i put him in my home.  Its always great to find a piece that makes you smile everytime you see it. You cannot go wrong with one of her pieces so check her out.

Easy Decisions!

Back from vacation in the Smokies, Bryson City and lots of soul searching, here is me and my boy, Kipp enjoying a family hike, Dan taking pics. I left the camera at home and Dan used his phone, still trying to find the other photos. I am so bad with computers and gadgets. But your aware of that by my messy blog and soon to be finished website.

Just wanted to let you know that i've decided to close my Nostalgic Folk Art website. It was NOT a tough choice and i'll tell you why,   I am keeping my etsy Nostalgic Folk Art shop, which seems to get more traffic and this year more sales than my site has in awhile.   Spending so much for hosting is not making any sense to me when i sell more work at galleries then i ever did or have online. I'll be opening a facebook page finally i guess so between tmy blog, etsy and the galleries I'm gonna be good. The Nostalgic Folk Art domain will remain mine as i may decide to start a website up again, who knows but for now these other things are keeping me super busy!  here are the galleries that sell my work

My First Written Review/Kinda like your first dollar, I treasure this dearly

"Carol Roll is a relative new-comer, creating folk art for four years, now. Her paper mache figures reflect significant talent. At first glance, her angels, people, mermaids, and animals may appear cute and dear. At closer look, they are sophisticated, with detailed, expressive faces, each unique. Roll's work is anything but mass produced. It's the real deal. "
