Nostalgic Folk Art was born in 2004. I came up with Nostalgic Folk Art name for my paper mache figures because I love the older things that remind me of my childhood and of innocent times. They are figures of folks both childish and impish and I love vintage folk art so putting nostalgic with folk art was/is a perfect and fitting name for my lil figures and business. I feel so blessed and thankful to God for being able to make these little pieces and hope they make you smile.

Thank you for taking the time to visit!

And when your done visiting here, I'd love for you to check out my work on my etsy shop, www.etsy.com/shop/NostalgicFolkArt

What a day!

On Monday my good friend Andrea, her daughter Bree and I went to Gainesville and Micanopy for thrift store shopping and antiquing.
Rats I am a terrible photographer!! I really wanted to have a good pic of Andrea as I knew as the hot day went on any pic taken would show us all wilted and less than presentable as a southern gal would like.
Here is Andrea in her lovely home before take off. Sorry but this was the least blurry pic.

We just randomly went thru Gainesville and found a couple of thrift stores but nothing really stellar. That was our fault as we just had no plan of action. We had a bit of a late start and Andrea was ragging on Bree to hurry it up. Anyway when I do that to Dan (rush him) when I drag him to go antiquing or to flea markets I always say, "ok someone just bought that Russell Wright water pitcher for $2.00". Its always a running (inside) joke in our house. Well we did have a late start and geeeze louise we stopped at a thrift store and here's a Russell Wright water pitcher! I made Andrea take a pic to show Dan!

After two stops we gals were getting pretty hungry. We found a lil place to eat with cheap prices and my Lord lots of delicious food. I think those omelets had at least 6 eggs. My scrambled eggs were divine and so were the grits. Love love love to stop at these small lil places to eat. At the register they had a legal pad for comments good and bad so being the nosey gal I am I went thru the pages and 99% of the comments were good. But the funniest thing was this random comment, "Edward Cullen is so hot!" giggle anyway....

Yes we did eat almost everything!!!

Bree shopping.

Some beautiful shops and Andrea putting up with the dramatics,

But it was very hot and I was so tired.

Speaking of tired, I wish this pic was clearer! this precious lil cat was curled up sleeping with his paw covering his eyes and if you look at his lil duck on the couch next to him, curled up almost the same way.

here are some pics taken on the way out of town,

By sweet lil town

Look at the size of that chicken!

My dream home!

Everyone has a different dream I suppose. Dare to be different as they say!

Holy Moly!!! Look What I Got!!!

Well I'm a member of the best group of Prim artisans EVER!!! To Dwell In Primitive Thymes gals had a Fall Swap and I was so blessed to have as a swap partner Jan Davis of Big Brown Dog Primitives. Now not only is she a great folk artist, she also did my website graphics and my banner and my business cards. So I knew when names were pulled "I gotta golden ticket!" Here are the goodies I received late this afternoon
in the mail!!!! DON'T be Hate'n!

Isn't this the best?! I can't wait to put it up! Its gonna really be the focal point of my halloween decorations and I will treasure this piece!

Well I never seen candy coated chocolate dipped sunflower seeds and they are yummy!
Can you see the wonderful necklace she made with a picture of my Henry, its on a vintage domino and I find that funny as well they are black with white spots just like Henry. I know thats so corny but I'm still on a high from opening my swap!

Its so obvious she understands my adoration and love for this breed of dogs along with my preference for vintage and prim decor and made these goregeous cutouts for me which are already dispersed in my home!

Now Jan makes and sells these items so check out her site by clicking on the TDIPT banner to the right and you may just see something you just have to have over there!!

Thank you Jan I adore it all!

I'm not sure he appreciated this.

Funniest Pet Contest Is On!

How could anyone choose which of these furbabies is the funniest. Ok there are a couple of stand outs well in my mind but everyone has their own ideas of funny. No doubt they are all precious. I haven't voted yet and it is a difficult choice for me. I think my friends all know why.

This is just an example of the adorable hilarity you'll see there. And to be fair I chose this pic as everyone knows I have a Boston and am a freak about them but Believe me there are pics there that make me chuckle and shake my head just as much too. Ugh I can't decide whom to choose but I must before Sept. 30th. Contest ends then at 5. I have to keep checking out the pics. It's like choosing which hand I like better my right or left. giggle.

The contest over at the TDIPT blog is for the funniest pets and yes all these precious cats, dogs, and dancing goats belong to members. There are members who have rabbits and donkeys and hens as well. A very pet friendly site and I think that says alot about them as people.
Make sure you head on over there and place a vote for the one who makes you giggle or smile really big. Just click on the banner and you'll be led to the blog over there. Once your done voting check out The Merc and see what wonderful items the gals have to offer this month.

This is Wonder Cat and his very proud mom is Karen (Cookie)DeGreve of Curds -n- Whey. He couldnt make the contest, he was too busy on a secret mission!

To Dwell In Primitive Thymes Funniest Pet Contest

On Sept 6th the To Dwell In Primitive Thymes site will be having a Funniest Pet Contest and voting will be open to their customers and site visitors. Remember its for the Funniest as they are all the absolute cutest to their owners. It's gonna be hard but one vote per person. All the animals featured are the actual pets of the artists in this group. I can't wait to see how it turns out and Pam of GoldiLoo Woodworks will be making and donating a sign to the winner of this fun contest. Hope you get a moment to check it out starting Sept 6. Winner will be announced on Sept 30st.

My First Written Review/Kinda like your first dollar, I treasure this dearly

"Carol Roll is a relative new-comer, creating folk art for four years, now. Her paper mache figures reflect significant talent. At first glance, her angels, people, mermaids, and animals may appear cute and dear. At closer look, they are sophisticated, with detailed, expressive faces, each unique. Roll's work is anything but mass produced. It's the real deal. "
