Nostalgic Folk Art was born in 2004. I came up with Nostalgic Folk Art name for my paper mache figures because I love the older things that remind me of my childhood and of innocent times. They are figures of folks both childish and impish and I love vintage folk art so putting nostalgic with folk art was/is a perfect and fitting name for my lil figures and business. I feel so blessed and thankful to God for being able to make these little pieces and hope they make you smile.

Good Bye Thin White Duke

Normally i dont get so so very sad when an "icon" passes away, but David Bowie to me was special. Frail, beautiful, strange, frightful, handsome, talented and that voice........




my oldest friend who passed away this past october, Cindy, and i would go dancing and his Let's Dance song would come on and up we'd go.      since her passing my heart would sink every time i'd hear a song from him, no matter what song it was, but especially those from the 80's.

the cliche thing to say would be she's dancing to his music up there but i'm not sure what happens and who you get to see or do when you die. I know its all good though.

    Sorry for your sadness....and yes, no one knows what happens after.....but my Gramma always gave me this when someone died, it always made me mad when she said it, but the older I become, the more I knew what she meant. "well, their troubles are over"......and "life goes on"......sadly, they are both so true, and it is a bitter reality, that if we do get to get older we will be seeing it.....but when you have an art, you can turn memories into tangible mementos and put them into the world so other people can feel them and enjoy the good things about them....music, art , sculpture, poetry, are all ways to memorialize those we love. Lucky you to have such a great talent to be able to do that, when and if you choose....and then not only they are remembered in a loving way, but so are YOU !!!
    And, sorry for your loss....wishing for the sun to come out again soon.

    My guess is, he's singing and she's dancing. ♥
    Sometimes music makes us sad. Especially songs from our past. Our glory days. What used to be. But it's best to try and remember the fun we all had back then!
    I remember listening to the B52s before they got popular. I even find myself jumping and dancing around when I put in my CD and "Private Idaho" plays. Mind you, it's not a pretty sight. But it's still fun! "...Underground like a wild potato." :> )

      haha i loved them too Private Idaho, oh gosh remember the movie with Keanu and Phoniex with the same name!
