Nostalgic Folk Art was born in 2004. I came up with Nostalgic Folk Art name for my paper mache figures because I love the older things that remind me of my childhood and of innocent times. They are figures of folks both childish and impish and I love vintage folk art so putting nostalgic with folk art was/is a perfect and fitting name for my lil figures and business. I feel so blessed and thankful to God for being able to make these little pieces and hope they make you smile.

Food for Thought

Sharing some photos of some of the things my son has made for dinner while i've been under the weather. now i'm feeling better but dang it seems like i cant remember how to cook!

he made a Japanese noodle soup with pork, very delicious.

a pot roast with homemade bread

 a vegetable lasagna

 old fashioned meatloaf

salad and a delicious chicken pot pie

I had been feeling really ill for about 3 mos and finally got a diagnosis, MENOPAUSE! well i had thought i had been through that already and wow did i have the symptoms for years, migraines, hot flashes, osteoperosis, poor memory, belly fat. but a new symptom popped up 3 mos ago. an inner vibration, weird right, but true. It felt like there was a motor inside of me. First a tingling in hands and feet, then like a burning on my skin then the inner shaking.   after several drs (thinking i had ms or parkinsons) visits and 20 plus vials of blood (from a thyroid dr )the only thing found were  extremely low levels of estrogen in my  blood. well my options were yoga (tried), exercise (walk in am), therapy(tried and will probably again),herbal remedies(tried to no avail) meds for aniexty(tried 2 types in 2weeks and no help) or hormone therapy.  I took the hormone therapy and i tell ya it makes all the difference for me. been on them less than a week and i can sleep, eat like normal, and the inner trembling has dimished alot, my dr says relief should take 2 weeks and i'm optimistic, i'm not on the bioengineered ones, just the old fashioned scarey ones, but i only intend to take them for a year or two and wean myself off them with the help of my dr.

on the couch exhausted and vibrating with my two sidekicks, funny how our pets know when we are not feeling well.

this past jan, this same thing happened to a friend of mine, she was told the same things i was told, oh its in your head, just relax have a glass of wine, your having a panic attack, or you have anxiety (who doesnt have anxiety now and then)

I began to get curious that several women my age (52 today)or older were having strange symptoms like mine and told they were having everything except even considering they were suffering from low or high estrogen. these women are ladies i know who are all on rx drugs for anxiety. my gyn says there all kinds of weird symptoms for this.

Menopause stinks and i dont condone either prescriptions or Hormone Replacement Therapy, but use whatever makes you stop suffering the annoying sometimes severe symptoms of menopause with your dr's guidance of course. remember there are risks no matter which road you choose.

My object is for women to educate themselves and know your not alone. and for most of us old gals, this is not permanent!

My First Written Review/Kinda like your first dollar, I treasure this dearly

"Carol Roll is a relative new-comer, creating folk art for four years, now. Her paper mache figures reflect significant talent. At first glance, her angels, people, mermaids, and animals may appear cute and dear. At closer look, they are sophisticated, with detailed, expressive faces, each unique. Roll's work is anything but mass produced. It's the real deal. "
