Nostalgic Folk Art was born in 2004. I came up with Nostalgic Folk Art name for my paper mache figures because I love the older things that remind me of my childhood and of innocent times. They are figures of folks both childish and impish and I love vintage folk art so putting nostalgic with folk art was/is a perfect and fitting name for my lil figures and business. I feel so blessed and thankful to God for being able to make these little pieces and hope they make you smile.

A new larger piece of Folk art

God's gift to her is an ode to the creative people who work with fabric and notions.  She is approx 18 3/4"

and embellished with antique millinery and objects.      Extremely fragile because of the age of items she is adorned with so handle as if she is an older antique.

She is for sale on my Etsy shop but check out my website for my other figures.

Not gonna lie, its been a tough couple of days and  working gets me through thinking about things i have no control over.   Blessed for my belief in God, family and friends.  Those things matter and always will.

Ode to Moms

A very special piece that is an ode to moms. Sometimes a small piece will inspire me to make a figure, a sweet little mother's day pin with ribbon did that.   This figure i made to look like an older doll using a technique to crack the glaze on her paper mache chest and face.  Embellished with old faded crepe paper, the pin, an old enamel child's tiny dish, millinery pear, vintage straw hat, ribbon, wood spools from an old chair and of course mica.    She is listed for sale on my website.

Well here is 2021

and hopefully this year we will see the covid virus conquered.   What a terrible year it gave us all. Something to agree on amoungst all the crazy.     So i just pour myself  into my work and making these fragile faded memories and hope someone will find them lovely enough to want as well.    I got these wonderful badges of a family named Endy, that had family reunions in the the 20s and 30s so i thought i'd make animals to represent the family members, bears and rabbits mostly.   Here are the first 2 i have to offer for sale on my website, www.nostalgicfolkart.com .   The site is new and not sure if all the kinks are out but hopefully no problems will occur.       since im reeeeeeallly bad at self promotion and anything to do with computer work   this simple website will have to do.      ok here are the 2 finished Endy family bears.

they are approx 14" and 15" tall the taller being the male with the heart.    these are extremely fragile pieces of art as they are made with antique and vintage trim and are not for play even tho they look like old stuffed toys.  they are sold individually

anyway hope you are doing well and this new year brings hope and peace to us all.

My First Written Review/Kinda like your first dollar, I treasure this dearly

"Carol Roll is a relative new-comer, creating folk art for four years, now. Her paper mache figures reflect significant talent. At first glance, her angels, people, mermaids, and animals may appear cute and dear. At closer look, they are sophisticated, with detailed, expressive faces, each unique. Roll's work is anything but mass produced. It's the real deal. "
