Nostalgic Folk Art was born in 2004. I came up with Nostalgic Folk Art name for my paper mache figures because I love the older things that remind me of my childhood and of innocent times. They are figures of folks both childish and impish and I love vintage folk art so putting nostalgic with folk art was/is a perfect and fitting name for my lil figures and business. I feel so blessed and thankful to God for being able to make these little pieces and hope they make you smile.

Thank you for taking the time to visit!

And when your done visiting here, I'd love for you to check out my work on my etsy shop, www.etsy.com/shop/NostalgicFolkArt

The Best to you always!

Dancing all the way to Bowersock

This lil girl called, Diva In Training, is heading to Bowersock Gallery in Provincetown MA. I am thrilled to have several of my imps there as well as the other galleries that sell my figures.

Bowersock Gallery carries pieces that are not on my website as do the other galleries that carry my Nostalgic Folk Art. Please check them out for art from several talented folks! www.bowersockgallery.com. and as always these galleries will be happy to send you pics of what they have available.
Having original art in your home is addicting and once you start it is very hard to go to any department store or gift shop and pick up something that is probably in every other home. Plus its probably American made and you can't go wrong there!
Anyway just thought I'd put that out there.
Oh and April 1st is coming and I'm putting 3 figures with my spin on this whole Alice in Wonderland bandwagon. So look out for a different Alice, and a play on hearts and of course some imps that arent very twin like coming on To Dwell in Primitive Thymes Mercantile.

Seniors, Seniors and Florida Southern Sun

Last week Dan me and his parents (the other seniors)took Kipp who is a senior at Florida Southern, back to school for his final semester.

It is a really bittersweet time as another phase of his and our life is coming to a close. Dan and I will miss the trips to visit him and well my son is still my son but he is a man and it just seems so strange in a way. My goal was to get him healthy and happily to this point and so I guess I'm somewhat retired.

Lakeland is really a beautiful area and here are some pics of the homes around the college. The white one is my fav. but again my photography skills are lame and dont really show how lovely it is. Tho I could live in any of these gorgeous places. This is what my next home will look like hopefully!

So anyway here are some pics of the college and the Annie Pfiffer Chappel has these wonderful colored glass pieces in the concrete and when you are in the church the sun lights them up like stained glass beaming throughout. Frank Lloyd Wright was a genius! You'll see some of the walkways and unfortunately the fountain (Water Dome) was not running.

Here is a close up of the lil bits of colored glass.

The GREAT and POWERFUL OZ!!!!

While there we usually eat at Harry's. And the food is top notch! Kipp and I love the fried grits and gravy! They serve Lousiana style food and I swear everything we have had there is good but them there grits can make me cry they are so yummy!
Here are the seniors in front of Harry's

and some snapshots of us inside
Kipp needs a haircut! Really bad pic but the others were really really bad.

Jan and Warren, Thank you for the fried grits!!!

Good Bye my sweet Kipp! He heads back to his frat house to which we are not allowed to enter without a hazmat suit!

As we were leaving I took a couple of pics of the swan sculputres(the lake is full of them around the college) they have all around the city. Publix's headquater is there and they have a huge influence on the city. But anyway here's of pic of their office oh and butterflies are around too but not sure why.

An X ray building and swan.

This is the training place for the Detroit Tigers!

And this well this is a pic of the shenanigans that occurred while we were on the road

My First Written Review/Kinda like your first dollar, I treasure this dearly

"Carol Roll is a relative new-comer, creating folk art for four years, now. Her paper mache figures reflect significant talent. At first glance, her angels, people, mermaids, and animals may appear cute and dear. At closer look, they are sophisticated, with detailed, expressive faces, each unique. Roll's work is anything but mass produced. It's the real deal. "
