Nostalgic Folk Art was born in 2004. I came up with Nostalgic Folk Art name for my paper mache figures because I love the older things that remind me of my childhood and of innocent times. They are figures of folks both childish and impish and I love vintage folk art so putting nostalgic with folk art was/is a perfect and fitting name for my lil figures and business.

Thank you for taking the time to visit!

And when your done visiting here, I'd love for you to check out my work on my etsy shop,

The Best to you always!

Tee, Guiness and Gracie Visit

That was the best pic I could get of them romping around as they are soooooo fast!
Yesterday was Tee's birthday and I'm glad she was recovered and well (giggle) enough to bring the kids by for a visit.

Look at all those tongues!

It is a beautiful cool and breezy day, just perfect for a bunch of terriers to be out and running. Too bad no pics as they all turned out blurry but it was joy for Tee and I to watch.

Here Gracie is getting to know lil Archie, but he is definitely in clear and present danger hee hee. Boston's are known for having digestive issues. Part of their charm.

Archie held his own after a while and soon joined in on whatever it was that was so danged interesting by the half dead pine tree.

Here's Tee trying to get them all to sit for a photo, Henry and Archie are unaware of that or any command. It was futile but fun to watch!

Tee and her beloved Guiness, who is really a big sweetheart!

Archie has a new friend in Tee!

Say Good Bye Henry

Hope everyone has a wonderful tuesday and since the boys are sleeping I'm getting back to work!

This A M

Finally got a picture, though pretty rough, it shows the boys in the begining of play. Actually Henry had the toy and Archie as usual took it from his mouth.
Something extrodinary happened and if I hadnt seen it with my own eyes...... Archie was beating Henry up on the couch and so Henry was on his back and Archie was play biting him and Archie in the zone almost fell off the couch BUT Henry put out his arm and pushed him back on him! Maybe it was reflex but I think Henry may actually like the lil pain in the tail.

Harmony only lasts for so long with these two but eventually Henry was like ENOUGH Archie stop pestering me! He rolled him and put him in his place even if it was for 2seconds! Look at Archie's crazy eyes I love that about Bostons!

And so it goes And so it goes

Excuse the "garden" it and my whole yard has died from the exteme cold temps we had. sigh But my dear Henry still loves to lay in the dirt. It is his time for quiet and sunning.
Oh no here comes crazy baby Archie,

There goes my peace and tranquility.

But Henry I'm so cute how could you not love me?

Alright Archie you get one minute of my time but don't eat the bad tomatoes.

Thats it I'm outta here, and off Henry stealthly sneakes to find another hiding place.

Crazy baby doesnt notice Henry has left and continues to garden and explore
the dusty tundra.

Archie has been in our home for over a month now and has given Dan and I so much joy.He is a great lil fella. They do have moments of play time but they move so fast I cant get pics of them playing together.

More Lovely Work From My Folk Art Friends

Audrey from Bay Rays Child, makes wonderful wonderful birds and I have some perched on my wire tree in my living room. I am such a greedy bird myself and think you can never have enough of them around. Which reminds me the TDIPT group is about to do a group launch on Ebay more details later.

More added to my BT collection

Some things from Tee of Hot Metal Mama, a portrait of Henry and a sign that is soooo true (from her) and an art box she made. Check out her site for more of them.

Finally I got my Dogpatch Primitives by Patricia Kelly Trevino!

Of course I have to add more pics of the trials of my poor Henry. Here he is sunning himself in a spot in the now ruined garden (from the freezing temps), but weary as the lil one is meandering his way.

and here he comes, I think Henry is thinking, can't a dog get some peace in their own garden or whats left of it?

Archie, a face only this mom loves, but Henry will come around right?

Peace at last I like to think or maybe he's thinking, how much longer must I endure a puppy?

Its so cold this poor lizard is just sitting there allowing me to take his pic and in serious danger as Henry is the great lizard, squirrel hunter.

The lizard got away, I wouldn't allow Henry to harm him.

this morning this happened on its own and more joy to my heart, infact they are playing right now around the house, I'm totally ignoring them and doing my blog and so today is gonna be a great one!

Miracles In Florida!!

Well shoot I guess I better say my prayers and check to see if the moon will be red this evening!!!
When noone was around the two boys shared the couch!!! But when I ran to get the camera and took the pic, Henry decided I was just toooo happy and jumped off the couch. giggle

THEN to my already joyful heart, Daniel says get the camera we have snow! Yes its only on our lawn furniture but stilllllllllllll! It was just amazing, something we don't see too much of in FL. I feel an extra kinship with my TDIPT sisters in the east, west and north, I too have snow. Even if for just a day.

A Few Of My Favorite Things

The decorations are down and house is somewhat back in some sort or order. Dogs still not besties but progress has been made so my heart isnt so heavy with that. Anyway I am in a group, TDIPT or To Dwell In Primitive Thymes that has close to 50 folk artists as members, And I am very blessed to have some of thier work in my home. I am waiting for a doll from Dogpatch Primitives (should come in any day now)but these are some of my favorite pieces. ( I already have shown my beautiful teddy from Brady Bears sitting on a prim chair my hubs made)

The artists work are the larger crow by Starla Myers of Briar Rabbit Primitives, The smaller crow looking down by Patty Kelly Trevino of DogPatch Primitives, The Raggedy Ann styled doll by Cookie DeGreve of Curds N Whey and The Cardinal by Karen Pender of CountryFolks Keepsakes. Check out their blogs and sites as they really have some beautiful, adorable, prim and lovely work.

And speaking of favorite things, poor Henry allows Archie to walk all over him. But they are working it out.

OMG after I posted this I took them outside as the artic air had warmed up somewhat and Archie did his puppy bullying and after a bit Henry felt confident and rolled him. As a human I have to realize that is a normal dog thing but as a mom it is hard. They did pretty good out there and kinda just sat near each other for the most part. It was so nice. And Archie slept til 5 30 this am. yay.

My house turns into a dog park for a day!

And it was HEAVEN!!!
My friend Tee brought over her dogs Guinnes and Gracie. They are good friends of Henry and he was in heaven as well. His friends really just werent interested in lil Archie and that suited us all just fine especially Henry.

Tee had time to play with lil Archie and I took some pics of that and of the dogs at play.

My poor lil Henry in the other room, (any room Archie is not in)

They are doing better and playing somewhat and Archie is so happy to see Henry every morning.

My First Written Review/Kinda like your first dollar, I treasure this dearly

"Carol Roll is a relative new-comer, creating folk art for four years, now. Her paper mache figures reflect significant talent. At first glance, her angels, people, mermaids, and animals may appear cute and dear. At closer look, they are sophisticated, with detailed, expressive faces, each unique. Roll's work is anything but mass produced. It's the real deal. "
